A new alignment technology developed using eye-tracking research, high-MOI mallet designs, and a striking white finish distinguish the new Scottsdale TEC putter line, PING CEO & President John K. Solheim announced today.
The Scottsdale TEC Ally Blue Onset, Ketsch Onset, Hayden, Ally Blue H and Ketsch 4 are available for pre-order at PING authourised retailers around the world beginning today.
“The new Scottsdale TEC putters represent an exciting new opportunity for golfers to improve their putting,” said Solheim. “The use of eye-tracking research has given us some great insights into the best ways to help golfers improve their focus and sink more putts. We’ve also chosen to make this line exclusively mallets to better serve the growing market for these types of designs while continuing to offer stroke-type fitting through optimal CG placement. All the Scottsdale TEC models are designed with proven PING performance, including high MOIs and a fantastic feel. We’re seeing some nice Tour adoption as well as we come into the key season.”

Eye Q Alignment Technology
The Scottsdale TEC (Tour Elevated Concepts) putters were developed using eye tracking research rooted in a visual performance philosophy known as Quiet Eye — how golfers visually engage with the putter before the stroke. In putting, Quiet Eye describes the duration of a player’s final gaze fixation on the ball, with longer durations consistently linked to higher skill and better performance. PING engineers tested multiple alignment prototypes while golfers wore Tobii eye tracking glasses. This enabled precise measurement of where, how long, and how consistently players focused their attention. The data revealed that certain alignment designs better stabilised gaze and extended Quiet Eye duration, directly leading to stronger visual control and improved putting performance.
This new alignment technology, called Eye Q, provides a distinct focal point on the top rail of Scottsdale TEC putters. By combining a focal point with a long alignment line, the design helps naturally quiet the player’s eyes before the stroke, making it easier to center and maintain a stable gaze at the critical moment. This visual stability is key to enhancing the Quiet Eye period.
“Our researchers and scientists look for inspiration outside of golf,” said Solheim. “Quiet Eye has been used extensively in other sports requiring precise movements to help athletes improve focus just before action. Whether it’s shooting a free throw in basketball or serving a tennis ball, many top athletes train using this technique. With the Scottsdale TEC line and Eye Q Technology, we’re providing golfers with an immediate solution to improve their putting.”
Onset Models
The Scottsdale TEC Ally Blue and Ketsch models are engineered with an onset shaft position, which places the shaft near the center line of the putter head, behind the top rail and ahead of the CG to provide golfers with a full-face view of the ball at address. The response to the onset models on the professional tours has been very favourable, with several players putting one in play, including Tony Finau, who has seen significant improvement in his PGA Tour putting stats.
“I’ve always used a blade putter, but I was looking to try a mallet,” said Finau, who switched to the Ally Blue Onset model in January. “I tried the Ally Blue Onset and immediately fell in love with it. It sets up so square and makes it easier to know where the face is aiming. With the dot and line, I can line up in the middle of the ball, which is extremely important. When you’re making good strokes, you’re splitting the ball in half, which means it’s rolling end over end. The Scottsdale TEC really helped change my putting for the better.”

“Pull” the Center of Gravity
As with all PING putters, the center of gravity in every Scottsdale TEC model is positioned behind the shaft axis to ensure it is pulled through the stroke for stability and less twisting. This preserves the torque and dynamic feel of the putter and allows for stroke-type fitting to match a golfer’s needs. This theory was employed from the beginning by PING founder Karsten Solheim, who often used a wheelbarrow analogy to make his point. He described how much easier and more stable it was to pull a wheelbarrow over a curb instead of pushing it over.
“My grandfather was a firm believer in the role the CG position plays in the performance of a putter,” said Solheim. “We continue to apply that philosophy today in all our putter designs. Ensuring the proper CG placement relative to the shaft axis is critical to performance. Pulling the CG provides more stability through the stroke and helps keep putts on line and rolling into the hole.”

Responsive Feel
The Scottsdale TEC putter’s one-piece insert is made of PEBAX, an elastomer commonly used in the soles of athletic shoes for its elastic properties. The lightweight, high-energy-return compound delivers a soft and responsive feel, leading to improved distance control and consistency.
WebFit Putter App Updated
PING also updated the WebFit Putter app with the new Scottsdale TEC series. The web-based fitting tool is developed in-house and is a quick and easy experience to help golfers find the PING putter that best fits their game.

“We continue to encourage golfers to take the time to get custom fit for their putters,” Solheim said. “Whether it’s through the WebFit Putter app or at their favorite golf shop, finding the best stroke type for your game and matching the putter’s look to your eye, a custom-fit putter can make a huge difference on the scorecard.”
