Custom Lead Times return to pre-COVID speed
Mizuno has announced that its customer service team, headed up by Craig Smith, has been doubled to eight people in a final step to returning to its pre-lockdown speeds for custom fit equipment. The golf team is now also to draft in five members of Mizuno’s wider Sports Division to expand its bandwidth during extremely busy periods.
“The golf boom stretched everyone’s capabilities,” says David Matthews – Western Global Golf Brand Manager. “Rising demand for golf generally, intermittent deliveries from the far east, retaining office staff and our Mizuno Pro launch created a perfect storm that was tough to ride out.
It’s been frustrating for everyone in the business and taken longer than we would have liked to work our way back to normal. However, we’re now made adjustments for the long term and have up to 13 staff customer staff members to call upon.”
The expansion was finalised in time for Mizuno’s JPX iron launch – historically a time when Mizuno’s custom demand is at its highest. The JPX923 Hot Metal irons were released in October, with the JPX923 Tour and Forged models to follow in January.
“We are relieved to be back on track with our custom lead times for the JPX923 launch,” says Matthews, “It’s an important launch for both Mizuno and the industry, and we’re now in a much better position to make the most of it.”
