Charity backed by TGI Golf Foundation set to deliver opportunities across the UK
Having introduced more than 50,000 children across Scotland to golf over the past seven years, the Children’s Golf Trust is now expanding its reach across the entire UK.
Founded by TGI Golf Partner and PGA Professional at Royal Troon, Kieron Stevenson, the charity has worked with around 30 PGA Professionals to deliver hundreds of coaching sessions to thousands of young people.
In 2019, the TGI Golf Foundation committed to a three-year donation totalling £12,000. This support was renewed last year, with a further £12,000 pledged over the next three years, enabling the Trust to extend its impact beyond Scotland into England, Northern Ireland and Wales.
Stevenson said: “We recently surpassed the milestone of 50,000 children coached in Scotland. Expanding our reach across the UK now gives us the opportunity to introduce tens of thousands more children to golf.
“We are looking for proactive PGA Professionals who are willing to engage with local schools and bring the sport to children who may otherwise never experience it. Crucially, we aim to create a clear pathway for those children to continue their journey beyond the school environment and into local golf clubs.”
The programme has already demonstrated a significant impact at club level, with many participating PGA Professionals reporting substantial growth in junior membership.
“On average, around 10% of children from each school we visit go on to join their local club,” Stevenson added. “We have seen remarkable success stories, including clubs with no junior section growing to more than 100 junior members as a direct result of in-school coaching.
“Even where clubs face capacity challenges, we work with nearby facilities to ensure every child has the opportunity to continue playing. For example, our Under-12 programme is currently full, with 85 children on a waiting list, so we are partnering with other local clubs to accommodate demand.”

Established with a clear mission to increase participation in junior golf, the Children’s Golf Trust is an official partner of Scottish Golf and plays a key role within its Junior Framework. The charity also works closely with the Golf Foundation to deliver a range of joint initiatives.
Adele McLean, Managing Director of TGI Golf, said:“The work Kieron and many of our Partners, including James Erskine and David Fleming, have delivered through the Children’s Golf Trust is exceptional. They are introducing golf to young people who may not otherwise have access to the sport, along with the many physical and mental wellbeing benefits it provides.
“We are delighted that the TGI Golf Foundation can continue to support this outstanding work and help bring these opportunities to children right across the UK.”
