Callaway launches new Opus SP+ wedge featuring Spin Pocket construction and tungsten weighting
Callaway Golf has introduced the new Opus SP+ wedge, the latest addition to its Opus SP wedge family, designed to deliver enhanced spin, trajectory control and precision through new engineering developments.
Building on the tour-preferred shaping of the existing Opus SP line, the SP+ model introduces a larger Spin Pocket™ construction alongside strategic tungsten weighting to raise the centre of gravity. The result is a lower launch profile with increased spin, aimed at providing players with greater control on scoring shots.

The engineering changes focus on refining the performance characteristics that have defined the Opus SP range, while pushing spin and trajectory management further.
Brian Herr, R&D Manager – Wedges at Callaway, said: “Opus SP+ takes on the best qualities of Opus SP, with lower launch, more spin, and engineering control. We’ve taken the Spin Pocket and made it larger; we’ve hollowed out more of the sole and doing that allows us to put Tungsten up in the topline. We have a larger Spin Pocket than we had in Opus SP. We’ve also added even more Tungsten up top to raise the CG, which allows us to flight the ball lower for more control.”
The expanded Spin Pocket construction increases the hollow section within the sole, enabling Callaway’s engineers to redistribute mass more effectively. By moving weight into the topline through tungsten inserts, the centre of gravity is elevated, which promotes a more penetrating trajectory while maintaining the high spin performance expected from the Opus family.
Available at retail from the 6th March.
