The Scotsman joins Laurie Canter as the second winner on the DP World Tour this year to use the state-of-the-art Volumental technology in selecting the correct footwear size and model for his game.
After starting the final round eight shots off the lead, Hill shot an -8, 62 on Sunday which included 10 birdies to earn himself a play-off win in Johannesburg.
On his way to victory, the 30-year-old relied on the performance of his Premiere Series Field golf shoes, purposely designed to provide golfers year-round traction and stability.
Premiere Series footwear is the overwhelming choice of players around the world and has been trusted by seven winners already this season across the DP World and PGA Tours.
The shoe is not only the preferred footwear option on the global professional tours but also among club golfers.
According to Golf Datatech, at the end of 2024 in the On Course channel, FootJoy Premiere Series was the #1 selling shoe model in sales value.*
“I have always liked the look of the Premiere Series Field golf shoe.” said Hill.
“It’s very comfortable for a classic style of shoe, whilst also being stable and providing great grip.
“The whole FJ FitLab experience at Auchterlonies was really interesting, seeing how the technology picks up all the details relating to size, shape, heel and width, which you wouldn’t necessarily think about when it comes to your feet.
“I certainly think it is a good idea for all golfers no matter the level to go and have a proper shoe fitting with FJ.”
At the event, 74% of the field opted to place their trust in a FootJoy shoe model - nine times more than the nearest competitor (8%).
It was not just shoes which topped the equipment counts for the week however, with 56% of the field choosing to wear the #1GloveinGolf.
Elsewhere, on the PGA Tour, there was another FJ victory on Sunday with Russell Henley claiming the biggest title of his career at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
The American chose to rely upon the advanced stability and superior traction of his Tour Alpha golf shoes and the unmatched feel of FootJoy’s StaSof golf glove.
“Tour Alpha is without a doubt the most stable model I’ve ever worn - it’s exactly what I’m looking for in a golf shoe.” said Henley.
